Lacewood gets its name from its strong figure and small flecks, which resemble lace. This flecking is created by the wood's large medullary rays, whose layout can best be seen from the wood's distinct end grain. Lacewood was originally found in Queensland, Australia but is now most commonly sourced from Brazil and Argentina.
