Theresa Stirling’s encaustic (beeswax) paintings are built by slowly layering up to 20 or more thin layers of hot beeswax, oil paint and colorful pigments. Built by hand, over any style of image, each brush-stroke is carefully fused with a blowtorch, creating a textured, luminous painting. The mood can be one of serenity, color, a memory, or raw-yet-sophisticated. These are artworks that nourish. There is almost no limit to the effect she can create.
